A three night trip to the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria in search of the ’15 Most Wanted’ Balkan specialities.

 

Our target list was;

Arriving in Burgas we drove to our hotel in Sarafovo, our base for all three nights and from where we visited several sites in the region.

We saw a decent total of 129 bird species during the trip, including all 15 of our target birds.

 

Out itinerary included the following sites;

Day 1 – Early evening arrival in Burgas, transfer to hotel in Sarafovo

Day 2 – Lake Mandra and the area around Sredets

Day 3 – Lake Vaya (Lake Burgas), Baltata Resort Reserve and steppe at Sveti Nikola

Day 4 – Lake Durankulak, Panitsovo and Alanosovosko Lake Managed Reserve
